I am an Earthling - What are you?

Installation with performance - Title: I am an Earthling – What are you?

March 5 – April 28, 2025

“What is man that you should remember him, the child of man that you care for him?” (Psalm 8:5) Psalm 8 reflects the role of man in creation. Is he a ruler or is he a gardener? God gave us the responsibility for creation, to cherish it and care for it. With her installation Erdling, the artist Eva Petric challenges us to reflect and rethink our role in the world. Do we want to be gardeners or destroyers? Is there a future for this planet in which the Messiah's kingdom of peace emerges? Fischer von Erlach created a model in stone with the Kollegienkirche. Eva Petric places her Earthling in his vision according to Rev. 21:10 ff (the heavenly Jerusalem) and, against the background of everyday existential threats, asks us the question: death or life? Choose life! (cf. Deut. 30:19)

Performance: 07th of March at 6PM

I AM A HUMAN,  WHAT ARE YOU?

Is a 15-minute performance of sound, movement and text that takes place within the site-specific installation, "I AM AN EARTHLING, WHAT ARE YOU?" The so-called mirror dome on the marble floor of the Kollegienkirch Church  also reflects our planet Earth, which appears as a "breathing, living organism" and is the home of all Earthlings.
The audience is invited to look within, and to reflect upon our human presence as diverged from Earthlings, and existing instead as Homo Sapiens upon it and, the problematics associated with this.
"Do humans have a place in the future?" ... seems to be connected to the question of whether we still have the strength and ability to hope ...
I AM A HUMAN, WHAT ARE YOU? invites us to find and regain the Earthling in us and everything that is embodied in it within ourselves.

Vocals and lyrics: Eva Petric
